What We Believe

Our Mission: Living Christ’s message through worship, study, fellowship, and service.

Our Vision: Lutheran Church of the Master is a come-as-you-are community of faith where everyone is welcome and Jesus Christ is Lord

Our Values: Our core values underlie our work, our interactions with each other, and how we fulfill our mission:

  • We will love and respect all people.
  • We are committed to a growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • As His followers, we will serve each other and our community.
  • In response to a loving and gracious God, we will generously support the ministry of Lutheran Church of the Master with our time, talents, and financial resource

We are Christians.
With Christians around the world, we believe in the Triune God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that God’s Son, Jesus Christ, died on the cross for our sins and rose in victory over sin, evil, and death to give us eternal life.

We are Lutherans.
We trace our roots back to the Reformation. We believe in the sovereignty of God, the authority of Scripture, and that we are saved by faith in Jesus Christ. We believe that God calls us to live in caring relationships with one another, to enjoy and care for creation, and to seek justice in the world.

LCM is one of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America’s nearly 10,000 congregations across the U.S., Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. Learn more about the ELCA. We are one of more than 180 congregations in the ELCA’s Metropolitan Chicago Synod.
